Vermont Sunset Through the trees

Vermont Summers Are Green & Great

We are well into our first summer in the new digs and we’re loving it! The pool is a
comfy 80 degrees, we’ve been trekking around the property rather than on the treadmill,
enjoying gorgeous sunsets by the firepit, and even trying out disc golf.
Vermont summers are worth the long winters to those of us who live here, but luckily
YOU get to arrive in time for the best of the best. Everywhere you look there are
luscious shades of green and the temps are perfect. Even if the forecast may call for
rain—it’s usually early morning or later in the evening.
The wineries are open and many of them feature live music a few times a week. Check
out Due North (www.DueNorthWinery.com) on a Sunday afternoon and sip your favorite
wine on their porch next to the vineyard. We also recently visited Maquam Barn &
Winery and heard some great music. Snow Farm Winery is rocking every Thursday
night –pack a picnic blanket and snacks. Speaking of packing, be sure to bring your
passport because the wine and arts trail of Quebec is very close and interesting, too.

There are of course a lot of breweries in Vermont, as well. 14th Star just dropped a
strawberry brew, and Mill River ( www.millriverbrewing.com/brewery) uses locally grown
hops. These two are within ten minutes of the new location, but you don’t have to
venture much farther for many, many more.
The golf courses are groomed and festivals and farmer’s markets abound. Lakewood
Links recently opened a new pub and restaurant that overlooks gorgeous Lake
Champlain. The Champlain Country Club is super close and features music at Irons &
Ale, their clubhouse which is open to the public, a couple of times a week. There’s a
great market at Taylor Park in Saint Albans every Saturday, amidst all of the charm of
that little city. Check out The Drake for unique cocktails and farm to table eats.
While there is always something to do here, the reality is many of our guests come to
escape the hustle and bustle. We’ve had a few guests who had stayed with us in the old
location come back and try the new one. Their feedback pointed out how extremely
easy it is to get around, and yet how peaceful. All of our guests rave about the full
kitchen, and of course the beds and amenities. There’s a great spot by the brook with a
fire pit for your enjoyment, and a barbeque grill also. We’ve made it super easy to check
in and come and go as you please with digitized door locks, and TVs that feature the
option to enter your check out date then automatically sign you out of any subscriptions
when you leave.

Of course, there’s much more to do than eat, drink and play golf! We are close to the
Lamoille and Missisquoi Rail Trails, Lake Champlain beaches and boat launches, riding
stables, art galleries, a plethora of hiking trails, and plenty of shops and eateries.
